Nerikomi, or Neriage is one of the ways to make interesting pottery surface using multiple coloured clays. The idea of decorating the surface in this technique is the same with agateware and marbled ware, and in Japan, it was developed further to create geometric, floral and animal patterns etc.
In this short 3-days-course, you will learn the very basic rules of handling clays, tips and tricks in the technique and how to design your patterns. Every week we will make simple patterns and develop one or two more complicated patterns over 3 weeks.
We will form the patterned clay into simple shapes such as plates and bowls, and Mizuyo will finish them with a transparent glaze.
The course fee includes all the materials and firing cost.
