Nerikomi, or Neriage is one way of making interesting pottery surface using multiple coloured clays. The idea of decorating the surface in this technique is the same with agateware and marbled ware, and in Japan it was developed further to create geometric patterns and floral ones etc.
In this short 3-days-course, you will learn the basic rules of handling clays, tips and tricks in the technique and how to design your patterns. Every week we will make simple patterns and develop one or two more complicated patterns over 3 weeks.
We will form the patterned clay into simple shapes such as plates and bowls which will be finished by mizuyo with a transparent glaze.
The course fee includes all the material and firing cost.
